High Performance Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)

Toronto, Canada – GAO Tek Inc. is offering its high performance Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) which is commonly used to measure unit, connection or transmission loss and locate faults and breaks in optical fibers. This mini-OTDR is widely used in the manufacture, construction and maintenance of optical networks.

This high-performance mini-OTDR, model 6413, features a 1.6 m short event dead zone, 0.1 m sample resolution with 65 k sampling points, pulse widths ranging from 10 ns to 20,480 ns and a high dynamic range of 42 dB to 40 dB. It reads and writes files in Bellcore GR196 file format and offers a long identification range from 1.6 to 512 km. This small and rugged OTDR communicates with a computer through USB, serial or parallel interface. FC or UPC connectors are provided for selection. In addition, it has a large color LCD and also features ample memory for data storage.

Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer Performs Optical Fiber Fault Location

Toronto, Canada GAO Tek Inc. has announced the release of its handheld optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) with TFT LCD, which is designed for the manufacture, construction and maintenance of fiber optic communication systems. It locates optical fiber faults and measures its physical characteristics including length, transmission and splice loss and performs visible fault location (VFL).

This optical time-domain reflectometer, model 6416, features a short event dead zone of 1.6m, a high resolution of 0.25m, 65535 sampling points and a long operating time of more than 10 hours on a single charge. It offers a maximum distance range of 256km and a memory capacity of 800 traces. This rugged OTDR offers optional wavelengths including 1310, 1550, 1625 and 1490nm at an accuracy of ±20nm. It provides dual USB interfaces supporting both USB stick and direct cable download to a computer via included software. In addition, the compact OTDR supports Bellcore GR196 file format for file management.

Toronto, Canada GAO Tek Inc. has launched its high performance Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) which is designed to measure unit, connection or transmission loss and locate faults and breaks in optical fibers. The mini-OTDR is widely used in the manufacture, construction and maintenance of optical networks.

This lightweight OTDR, model 6413, reads and writes files in Bellcore GR196 file format and offers a long identification range from 1.6km to 512km. It features 1.6m short event dead zone, 0.1m sample resolution with 65k sampling points, pulse widths ranging from 10ns to 20,480ns and a high dynamic range of 42dB to 40dB which ensures accurate signal processing. The rugged OTDR provides a USB interface for data transmission and also transmits data to a PC via a serial or parallel interface. FC and UPC connectors are provided for selection. The high performance OTDR works continuously for eight hours when it is fully charged; battery levels are displayed accordingly.
