Toronto, Canada – GAO Tek Inc. is offering its 1000 M dual port media converter which provides a 1000 M SFP port and a UTP port. The media converter takes advantage of intelligent connection technology to provide auto-negotiation thereby eliminating the need to manually configure or monitor settings. It is specially designed for mission-critical networks such as Telco/ISP backbones or enterprise networks.
This modular designed and hot-pluggable media converter, model C0330005, uses physical layer technology to implement media conversion compliant with IEEE802.3z and IEEE802.3ab standards. It supports two types of media network connections: 1000Base-T and 1000Base-SX/LX. This media converter can conduct mutual conversion between 1000Base-T twisted pair electrical signals and 1000Base-SX/LX optical signals.
The media converter extends the transmission distance of a network from 100 m over copper wires to up to 80 km through optical fiber link. It provides transmission distances of up to 550 m on 50/125 μm MMF and 220 m on 62.5/125 μm MMF, while on SMF it offers a transmission distance of up to 80 km. It also allows for full-duplex and half-duplex transmission modes. In addition, its LED indicator lights fully monitor the convertor’s operational status making observation and diagnoses easy.
This 1000 M dual port media converter belongs to GAO’s family of Fiber Switch which contains five similar but featured products that can be suitable for different requirements. This line includes 2-10/100/1000 M RJ45 & 2 – 1000M SFP Ports Ethernet Switch which has two 10/100/1000M UTP ports and two 1000M SFP sockets, 4-Port 10/100Base-Tx and 1-Port 100Base-Fx Ethernet Switch which has four 10/100M UTP ports and one 100M SFP socket and 6-Port 10/100Base-Tx and 1-Port 100Base-Fx Fiber Ethernet Switch which has six 10/100M UTP ports and one 100M SFP socket.
